If you are interested in serving on any of these committees, please contact the WGBA Office at (414)224-9422 or email: info@wgba.org! It's a great way to get to know other members and to help WGBA transform the green building market!
WGBA Committees
Membership (Recruitment & Development)
The goal of the Membership Committee will be to increase and retain WGBA membership and provide greater value for all levels of WGBA members. Some strategies to help accomplish this have been identified:
- Develop a set of compelling reasons for various member types (A/E firms, contractor, corporate owner, developers, etc.) to join WGBA. Include differentiation with USGBC memberships.
- Work to increase membership at all levels and geographically, with emphasis on Green Champion and Benefactor levels.
- Publish and maintain a membership guide.
- Increase the value of WGBA's products to retain existing members and attract new members.
Education/Advocacy/Programs
Working with the other committees, the Education/Advocacy/Program Committee will:
- Identify, develop and formalize partnerships/alliances that will strengthen WGBA’s ability to provide access to resources and services that accelerate adoption of sustainable buildings.
- To develop strong resources that provide educational and technical assistance.
- Develop programs that provide developers, building owners and decision makers with the information they need to make decisions that meet their needs and move green building forward.
- Identify regulatory barriers to the adoption of sustainable design technologies/solutions and work to eliminate barriers through changes to codes, administrative rules, etc.
- Identify and develop forums for both members and the public to network and share information.
Marketing & Public Relations
The Marketing & Public Relations Committee will work in sync with the other committees to publicize the goals and accomplishments of WGBA. These tasks include:
· Furnishing appropriate information to the media and community figureheads, that would interest the general public (i.e. press releases, invitations to events, articles);
· Furnishing appropriate information to construction-industry trade & professional journals;
· Preparing an annual report for WGBA each year for distribution at its annual meeting;
· Maintaining the WGBA website, email and newsletter communications to all members.
Possible strategies for the Marketing & Public Relations Committee would be to:
1. Identify media outlets with interest in sustainable & environmental issues and build relationships with media contacts.
2. Identify article topics and encourage members to prepare articles or draft press releases.
