About WGBA
The logo of the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance is a visual embodiment of the philosophy of our organization. The circle represents the earth and all of its resources that we depend on for our physical, economic and psychological well being. The web of lines represent the dynamic interdependence of all forms of life on earth that in conjunction with the physical environment comprise the ecology of the earth. In order for the construction industry to operate in a sustainable manner, it must mirror this dynamic interdependence in its design, construction and operational practices. This will require more than the adoption of new design strategies, construction materials and methods or operational protocols. The construction industry must move toward a more integrated, holistic method of practice in which all of the many professionals that are involved in the construction process work together in a collaborative cross-disciplinary fashion. At the present time the industry is fragmented and overly specialized, making it almost impossible to realize the synergistic benefits of sustainable design and construction practices. This problem represents a tremendous opportunity to tap unrealized efficiencies in the design and construction process that can cost effectively improve the social, environmental, and economic performance of the built environment now and for future generations. It is for this reason that our organization seeks to disseminate both practical technical information about how to cost effectively implement sustainable practices as well as information regarding the sustainable building process. Ultimately our organization seeks to build a highly motivated and knowledgeable local green building network that will work together to form a prosperous green building industry in Wisconsin.
