Each year the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) recognizes the talents of students and recent graduates through a Natural Talent Design Competition. The 2007 event brought entries from teams associated with 19 USGBC chapters or affiliates across the nation including the Team H2O from Milwaukee, which is sponsored by the Wisconsin Green Building Alliance.

The Team H2O entry, titled RE-VISION PROJECT, earned second place and a $2000 prize. RE-VISION proposed a site redevelopment for a Green Technologies and Services Center. According to team members, it would be “a place where users can work, shop and view green building technologies in action, and a place that serves as a community locus.”

A few highlights of the entry are reuse of 90% of the existing floor area and recycling 80% of demolition waste.  In addition a PV solar array, green roof, and maximized use of daylighting make this an exceptional example of sustainable design.

Members of Team H2O include:  Ethan Skeels (employed by Planning and Design Institute, and a UWM student), Adam Luckhardt (employed at HGA, and a UWM student), and Eric Seidl (employed by JJR in Madison, and a former UW student). Jeffrey Rainwater from Planning and Design Institute served as the team mentor.

Congratulations to this great group of talented, young, green design professionals!

Design information, and display boards one and two can be downloaded for viewing.
