Communications and Marketing Manager--SEPA

Description: The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA) is a nonprofit organization representing over 275 electric utility, solar industry, and stakeholder members. SEPA’s mission is to facilitate solutions for the use and integration of solar electric power by utilities, electric service providers, and their customers. The Communications Manager will be responsible for raising the visibility of a small but quickly growing membership non-profit to key audiences. The position reports to the Executive Director.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years communications experience with a non-profit or association. A bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or business management is required. Interest in renewable energy and environmental issues is a plus.

Position Responsibilities:
• Develop marketing and communications materials, both printed and electronic, to promote the organization, its activities, and its events
• Provide oversight to the design, development, and production of materials outsourced to suppliers, including quality assurance for branding
• Manage the implementation and marketing of workshops and webinars
• Coordinate the organization’s participation in industry meetings, conference and trade shows
• Coordinate networking events for organization members and stakeholders
• Update and monitor content of the organization’s website, in coordination with staff and the organization’s software company
• Coordinate press requests for staff interviews
• Write and distribute press releases
• Research, write, and edit the organization’s bi-monthly electronic newsletter
• Assist staff in creation of creative PowerPoint presentations, speeches, and articles
• Assist with the development of new education programs for organization members and stakeholders
• Help other staff members simplify and clearly communicate complex technology and programmatic messages
• Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements/Skills:
• 5+ years communications and/or education experience with a non-profit or association
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or business management
• Exceptional written and oral communications skills
• Interest in environmental and renewable energy issues; knowledge of solar technologies and markets is useful but not required
• Quick learner
• Exceptional customer service orientation
• Team-oriented self-starter
• Highly organized
• Excellent time management and prioritization skills
• Interest in working in a fun, flexible, and small yet quickly growing office environment
• Willing to undertake moderate regional and domestic travel
