Course Content:
The objective of this course is to introduce the commissioning process to Architects, Building Owners and Developers so that they can fully utilize the benefits of building commissioning. The course covers all the different responsibilities of a commissioning Authority, their implementation schedule and expectations. It discusses the benefits of commissioning and provides the tools needed to evaluate the right commissioning Authority for the project. The course will also address commissioning process requirements as required by different LEED rating systems.

About the Instructor
Farhan Khatri, PE, QCxP, LEED AP
Farhan Khatri is a registered Professional Engineer, LEED AP BD+C and a qualified commissioning agent. His speaking engagements include being a lecturer at University of Wisconsin-Madison for CEE 290, a class focused on integrated construction systems. He has also been a mentor for class CEE 578, a senior design project class. Other speaking engagements include; "Enhancing the Delivery of Healthcare-Through Sustainability and High Performance in the Built Environment" at The Nelson Institute of Environmental Studies and "Integrated Campus Planning to meet Owners Project Requirements" Presentation to Construction Engineering Management Club at University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is also the co-chair of education committee for Wisconsin Green Building Alliance (Wisconsin USGBC Affiliate).
His published work includes; Building Operating Management magazine; In progress, Energy Efficient Strategies for Hospital Design, Consulting – Specifying Engineer; December 2006, M/E Roundtable participation, Striking a Balance; Mass-Related Properties of Atomizers for direct-Injection SI Engines, SAE Technical Paper Series.
Farhan has worked in different roles in the construction and consulting industry. He has over 10 million square feet of design/commissioned projects experience, varying in different complexities, types and environments. He’s project portfolio includes; pharmaceutical, healthcare, research, commercial, industrial, higher education and State projects. These projects include local neighborhood to large international projects.
His experience over the years, working in different roles in consulting and construction industry, has given him a unique perspective and understanding of the architectural, engineering, development and construction industry. He provides consulting services in areas of commissioning, sustainability, education, energy analysis, energy optimization, and integrated design solutions.
